New Year’s Eve Delight: Tourists Flock to Kashmir, Creating a Spectacular Beeline for Blissful Celebrations

With Christmas and New Year approaching, the first choice of tourists is Kashmir. The hotels in popular regions like Gulmarg and Pahalgam are fully booked indicating a high demand among the tourist as a tourist getaway.

Kashmir this year witnessed record-breaking numbers of tourists, with over 2 crore visitors including 50,000 foreigners that arrived in the valley by November 30. With New Year and Christmas around the corner, travel agents reported a surge in inquiries.

The President of the Travel Agents Association of Kashmir, Rauf Ahmad Tramboo said that the tourist rush has been increasing in recent weeks. He anticipated even more arrivals in the coming weeks as people prefer to celebrate the festive season in the stunning landscapes of Kashmir.

For Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the hotels in Srinagar and Pahalgam are sold out. Pahalgam and Gulmarg are the highlights of the valley and to keep the tourists engaged multiple events are planned to entertain them during celebrations. To make the visit memorable for the visitors, the hoteliers and travel agents have made special arrangements including musical evenings and New Year celebrations.

To attract more tourists special packages including recreational activities and gala activities have been introduced. According to a hotelier most of the tourists for Christmas and New Year are coming from Maharashtra and South India.

Due to the heavy demand of tourists, the airlines have also increased the fares of flights. The one way ticket of flight from New Delhi to Srinagar has risen by more than 30%, reaching Rs. 9000 per passenger in comparison to the usual fare of Rs. 5,000 – Rs. 6,000. The increased airfare signifies the popularity of Kashmir as a holiday destination during the festive season.
