ATTRACTION OF LADAKH: LIKIR MONASTERY

Situated on a pictorial hilltop, the Likir Monastery is located in the Likir Village, and is around 52km from the centre of Leh. Built by Lama DuwangChosje under the authority of King LhachenGyalpo in 1065, it is undoubtedly one of the sacred and must-to-visit monasteries in Ladakh.

During a visit to the Likir Monastery, visitors can read its many-folded history engraved on its walls. In addition, there are other attractions like statues of Bodhisattva, Amitabha, Sakyamuni, Maitreya Buddha, and TsongKhapa. Numerous ancient manuscripts and thangka collections can also be found in the Likir Monastery.
