First celebrated in October 1997, the Sindhu Darshan Festival in Ladakh came into existence after the rediscovery of the Sindhu River (or the Indus River) in January 1996. Discovered by revered Indian politician Lal Krishna Advani, this event was later declared as a primary regional festival that is being celebrated by locals from all religious background and faiths. Today, the Sindhu Darshan Festival in Ladakh has become a major attraction of Leh Ladakh tourism, and entices a large number of national and international tourists to plan for a Leh Ladakh tour.
