Owing to heavy snowfall, the pass remains closed from October to April. Post that, it is open to visitors and is also the best time to visit.

Precautions

High altitudes might result in oxygen deficiency and give rise to several health issues. After landing in Leh, visitors should rest at least for a day to get acclimatised with the weather. Carrying personal medications (basic medications) can be of great help.
